wonder how much torque its got?
-
These where made where i live!!!!!!!
-
I have had the opportunity of seeing this engine in person
-
Two Fowler engines working 450 yards apart would plough a greater area of land than that 20 bottom affair you are showing here. The old ploughing contractors would have them moving forward at a greater pace than you see at steam shows today!

hot damn

I've read that some of the late model highly efficient steam locomotives could use as much as six gallons of water per minute!...What an appetite!
How does this tractor compare...Also how much fuel and what type fuel does she burn. I didn't notice much smoke...Thanks. -
how cool is that?!
-
I'm guessing you had to have some serious money to buy one of those back in the day?
-
Wouldn't want to get under those wheels.
-
I would like to know what kind of torque numbers this tractor has. I am thinking well over a thousand ft lb ?
-
Perhaps someone could help me understand.... what exactly makes it a "20" bottom plow or a "2" bottom plow? I've never quite figured it out.
-
Note I said "almost".
-
While that is mostly true.. there were exceptions. Like the stanley steam car boilers that were wraped in piano wire which ran at 600psi on average. The racing model that held the steam land speed record from 1906 to recent years had a 1000psi boiler.
-
No, that's not true. These would have costed probably more than 1000 bucks back then. A small 3 1/2 hp hit n miss with magneto cost 350-400 dollars.
-
I hope you're joking.
-
Because people like us appreciate what people used too put in. It is a lot of fun and very interesting. Without this "steam powered piece of crap" you wouldn't have your iphone.
-
Max boiler pressure on almost any steam engine (even high pressure cylinders) is about 90-120 psi, it's all about the volume of steam.
-
cool antique tractor
-
what year is the tractor in the video. if i didn't know any better i'd say it almost looks pre 1900. (i don't know any better)

Back when I was your age one of these cost me $20
