As powerful as the mighty H-8 Allegheny is, it's 7500hp is slightly eclipsed by the PRR Q2's 7950hp. They're all amazing pieces of RR engineering & would look absolutely great driving straight up heelfan's stupid troll a$$.

Um it's actually the big boy #4014
-
More power than Big Boy and less traction?? wtf
-
before I saw the video I thought it would be BIG BOY
-
I must admit, of all the American Mallets, the Chessie/Virginian Allegheny-types are probably the ones I find the most pleasing to look at.

at 0:58 there are two children out on the platform they appear to be ghosts , period clothing and somewhat see through faded . . .
-
Hey kid, don't touch that. You might break it.

That's Sam from Welcome To Sodor, Sam!, and A New Friend On Sodor!

I hate to see the arguing about which locomotive is the best. Can we just agree that this locomotive, the UP Big Boy and the N&W Y6 class were all massively powerful? Diesels were around at the time these giants were built but it took so many units to equal one of these, at least 4 if not 5 E or F units. Eventually diesels won out but not because these steam locomotives weren't powerful pullers. Diesels were just cheaper to operate and maintain.

Wonderful old machine. Thanks for the video. I wonder what it will cost to restore...

I wish they would get her back into steaming order and bring her out sometime. It would also be pretty cool to see steam locomotive 1604 back on mainline service.

Oh my gosh, the wiki was right!
THERE REALLY WILL BE NO END TO THE BIG BOY VS. ALLEGHENY DEBATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
This train is the Arnold swartsenagger of steam trains
-
Sorry Allegheny fans, but the PRR Q2 was more powerful than the 2-6-6-6. Q2 had almost 8000 horsepower.
-
Has anybody figured out the name of the song and artist?
-
I have a model in HO of this engine, with sound, and it is always popular when I run it anywhere. I visited Ford museum in Detroit to see the other one and was awed to no end at its size! What it must have been like to drive one of these is mind blowing!

I always thought that big boy was the strongest
-
When steam was king, this locomotive was a beast.
-
The Big Boys were longer and more powerful.
-
Impressive locomotive, but definitely NOT the strongest. Look up the Virginian Triplex and you'll see the strongest...
