It's that time of year again when collectors bring out their antique tractors for shows and parades. In this episode we visit our local Big Rapids Antique Farm & Power Club for the 15th Annual Big Rapids Antique Tractor & Gas Engine Show. This is true Americana at its finest. The backbone of any civilization is agriculture, and the USA has a proud heritage of tractor manufacturing to support that industry. Many of the tractors featured in this video were built before I was born, which makes them true antiques! Some of the craftsmanship put into restoring these machines to their original beauty is truly remarkable. Félix, yes, I would believe so. I don't know how much they are worth fully restored, but even the ones that are still in need of restoration are selling for several thousand dollars. We were very pleased to see so many that were cared for and restored so well. Thanks! Paul

The tracktors on the video should be having a good value.

Max, well, that is a good idea. If I can arrange to do a video on the Jeep then we will. It is something very American. :-) A lot of history there, and I would love to do a video on that by itself. Thanks for the idea!! Paul

Max, I am so glad you enjoyed this episode! We obviously had some problems with the audio again, but I managed to salvage as much of the video as I could. It was a fun day! A lot of walking, but it was very enjoyable. Bev spent a second day there and videoed a second episode so we could cover more of the things on display. That just went live a few minutes ago. Thank you for watching my friend!! Paul

Tom, I couldn't agree more, the Jeep is an American icon. I'm not sure if a spanner wrench was all one needed, but the tools required to work on one were in fact very few to make field repairs easier. Four wheel drive was the real big deal with the introduction of the Jeep as I understand it. I didn't get video of it, but there was someone at the event in a reproduction of Henry Ford's original "popper", the first car he ever built. I hope to get footage of the original, which I have seen. Paul

Tom, in fact there is a similar correlation, though not as pronounced, with crop farmers wearing ball-caps and ranchers more commonly wearing wide-brimmed hat. It is a throw-back to the cowboy days. There are of course a lot of exceptions, but it is a reasonable rule-of-thumb. I personally favor the wide brimmed hat, but a somewhat more dress style than is common, as seen in this video. Thanks for watching, and keeping the interest up on our channel!! Paul

Amy Lee, well the US is a diverse place, and we are trying to sample as much of it as we can here. We get to see a lot of tractors working the fields and traveling the roads where we are now. So, I'm glad we can still come up with surprises. Hope that keeps the channel fresh and interesting. :-) Paul

We don't know what to expect from you, Paul:) Like the versatility of your videos. When I was a kid I used to like to look at the tractors working the fields.

Ettore, Oorah! The Jeep definitely changed the face of the world when it came out. Somewhere there is a picture of my father in one in England while he was there during "The War." I always wanted a Jeep when I was growing up, but never have gotten one. We appreciate the thanks. So glad you enjoyed seeing these antique American machines! Just another small part of our heritage. Thank you! Paul & Bev

Veikka, thank you! We do have planned a video on the automobile manufacturing factories (from the outside) later in the year, and I will try and find an antique car show as well to showcase some of the cars built exclusively here. There are also plans to video Henry Ford museum and show a lot of the classic cars and other machines there. Just as soon as time and finances allow. :-) Thank you for watching, and I am so glad you enjoyed this one!! Paul

Nice video Paul. Could you make a video where you would show real american cars?:) By the way, those tractors look very well maintained. You don't see old tractors in such a good shape too often.
