The first journey in the so-called Freightliner Inspiration Truck, which took place on U.S. highway 15 in Las Vegas, was made by Brian Sandoval, Governor of Nevada, and Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard. The truck is equipped with the intelligent Highway Pilot system for autonomous driving. The state of Nevada licensed two Freightliner Inspiration Trucks for regular operation on public roads. Daimler Trucks is the global leading truck manufacturer and, with the Freightliner brand, also the biggest producer in the U.S. “Our Freightliner Inspiration Truck is the world´s first autonomous commercial vehicle to be licensed for road use. Our achievement here underlines yet again our role as a technological pioneer and demonstrates our consistent dedication to develop the technology for autonomous long-distance driving to series production standard. I am proud of this extra-ordinary achievement by the Daimler Trucks team,” stated Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard, Daimler AG board member responsible for Trucks and Buses. Highway Pilot system to be developed to series production standard Transport in the future must be even safer, more efficient and more networked – this is the aspiration that Daimler Trucks has expressed in the new Freightliner Inspiration Truck. In July of last year, Daimler Trucks provided the world´s first demonstration of an autonomous truck in action when the Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025. Spectacular world premiere near Las Vegas The world premiere of the Freightliner Inspiration Truck took place near Las Vegas, in front of representatives of the media, government as well as business and finance. Trucks are by far the most important means of transport in the U.S. In 2012, trucks transported around 70 percent of all freight tonnage in the United States. This way, a total of 9.4 billion tons of freight were moved by trucks. Globally, the road freight transport is expected to even triple between now and 2050. Autonomous trucks provide the opportunity to cope with this growth in a manner that harmonizes economic and environmental needs. “Nevada is proud to be making transportation history today by hosting the first U.S. public highway drive for a licensed autonomous commercial truck. The application of this innovative technology to one of America’s most important industries will have a lasting impact on our state and help shape the New Nevada economy,” said Gov. Sandoval. “The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles has been closely monitoring the advancements being made in autonomous vehicle development and reviewed DTNA’s safety, testing and training plans before granting permission for this demonstration of the Freightliner Inspiration Truck.” Record-breaking World Premiere of Freightliner Inspiration Truck on Hoover Dam • Highest light output projection of 1.17 million lumens earns Freightliner a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title • Hoover Dam becomes biggest projection screen ever in North America, introducing world’s first autonomous truck to be granted a license to operate on public roads • Historic introduction of unique Freightliner Inspiration Truck with projection onto massive face of the most iconic dam in the U.S. Daimler Self Driving Truck Nevada Worlds First Licensed Autonomous Truck Mercedes HD CARJAM TV

WHERE IS THE FUCKING IN CAB TOILET NOT SO SMART STUPID NOT SO SMART ! HA HA HA
-
always good to be inspired
-
So if these self driving trucks still need a driver at the wheel, are drivers simply going to be paid much less? since they won't actually be driving.
-
So he wanna be fancy and play on his pad before he crash.
-
The video of OTTO's unit is much more impressive. This video never showed the driver out of the seat. Otto shows their driver out of the seat.
I have one question, Over the past decades the U.S. Govt has a done an incredibly efficient job of lowering standards in education. Whos gonna fix them when they break, and they will break. There are not enough mechanics capable of repairing the current technology. -
I see Skype on the truck
-
I already hate the future already

garbage. propaganda. pretty landscapes, no in cab, continuous vid. Only traffic is simulated. Sing your praises when a "glitch" kills someone you love. Or a virus. Or a software hijack. Your computer can't run correctly 100% of the time, but "believe us, the vehicle will". nonsense. just more dehumanization.

Driverless truck.. I saw one sitting behind the wheel.. Let the companies install a $100 backup camera on them first.. It is just a advertising gimmick.. would you leave hundreds of thousands dollars worth of equipment and freight on the road.. and rely on sensors only...driver only gets paid nickel and dime and has to do lots of work besides sitting behind the wheel.
One accident with car full of family and all trucks will be pulled out.. -
Please if you see this truck crash it.
-
looks like to me there is someone in the drivers seat.
-
why is there a meat bag in the vehicle?
-
now why would some buy this rig ?
what happens when its driving its self and a sensor malfunctions or better yet if you still have to have a driver OR technician to monitor the vehicle why would somebody spend the extra money when they still have to pay a so-called driver doesn't make any sense butt when a sensor fails or can't read the road due to construction or random objects or sheer stupidity of somebody and gets into an accident whose fault would that be the so-called technician or the manufacture or the stupidity of a state or are FMCSA government allowing something like this on the road but to make roads safer if that's the case then why don't they crack down on people with their cell phones or driving distracted but then you gotta start with the people who will stand and uphold the law they put laptops in their vehicles and they're all them going down the road butt it's a part of their job all this is is a big waste of money and it will not take off because when I can go and purchase a truck that's rebuild 42230 grand why would I spend however much for a so-called self-driving truck but it has to be well over the 250 to $300,000 range because natural gas trucks start at 250,000 just a thought but we as humans rely way too much on technology it breaks when you have more moving parts the parts are going to work out and they're going to break it's like trying to figure out how many different ways to wipe your own butt -
Truck is driving in right lane, car pulls in front of it and begins to slow down, another pulls to the left of it matching its speed, not allowing it to switch lanes and now a third vehicle pulls up behind it. Where does it go? Will it drive off the road to the right or make a complete stop to be robbed of all its goods in the trailer. This is a great invention but it will not takeover human truckers... Or else there will be road pirates.

I hate from daimler in all times. This project is soo uselles and no one cant drive good than a real driver.
-
just wait till 6 cars in unison , all in on it together slam their brakes in front of one of these in snow.....PAYDAY. oh yeah didnt you know?Companies force drivers to drive in snow.
-
it would be nice if daimler just forget about self driving truck and focus on getting their trucks fuel average mpg up so that we can all save some money on fuel. rather then losing our jobs to self driving trucks
