An old movie (thus grainy with music but no other sound) of uprooting a big Buckthorn tree using a Bobcat tractor. Also some photos of the roots, leaves, fruit and bark of the Common Buckthorn (one of two kinds of Buckthorn). Buckthorn is an invasive plant that can take over huge areas. The fruit shown is green because it was Spring. Later in the year they turn black. Birds eat the berries, but. oddly, it gives them diarrhea so they poop the seeds all over. Identifying Buckthorn can be tricky and you don't wanna chop down a "good" tree. Search for "identify buckthorn" and there's scads of info. The songs are my own, so I guess it's ok to use them. If confronted, I'll claim I gave me permission.

Yeah, one of these days she'll learn what fun driving the tractor is and then I'll be a foot soldier again. Meanwhile I'm a happy boy! And she keeps this old man humming along, too. I am jumping up and down out of the tractor so much it's like using a Stairmaster. But that's good for me, too. Whoodathunk uprooting Buckthorn and Asian Honeysuckle could be so fulfilling? But it is! This probably how the Sahara Desert got started.
