Like you said dirty jets in the carb water in the fuel or the alternator seen better days or the battery on the way out to dirty connectors may need to keep some fuel stabilizer around just in case where you get your fuel has gotten water or sediments in the tank or dirty fuel filter may want to add one

Sam , F.Y.I. Those ole Ford 8 N / 9 N / 2 N tractors with the forward mounted distributor are notorious to short out inside at the end of the points spring , The distributor shaft will ware and get a wobble ..
