John Deere 4120 tractor, Landpride finishing mower was bought used. It has a 84'' cutt. I had to replace the old oil seal (i guess about 7 yrs old) I also had to modify the bushings for the wheels by opening them up a little in the lathe. It cuts good and I am very pleased with it.

you are supposed to start the PTO then bump it up to 2500 RPM that's why you had to replace a seal because it over worked the deck when it starts at a higher speed

Should start the PTO at idle and THEN throttle up to 540rpm. it will A LOT EASIER ON THE TRACTOR AND MOWER.

I just bought a Deere 4320 and an 84" LP mower like yours. In regards to PTO engagement, my manual recommends 1500 RPM, which sounds reasonable. Depending on how much load the implement presents at startup, engaging at slow idle can lug or even stall the engine, although I doubt it would happen if your tractor idles as fast as mine does.
One warning: It looks like the guard is missing on your mower's shaft. Replace it now! I'm normally not a safety freak, but this is important. An unguarded PTO shaft can be deadly. It looks harmless when it's turning slowly, but if it catches loose clothing it will not stop for anything. At best you'll lose a limb.
How's the custom exhaust pipe working out? I'm going to have to change mine; the fumes blowing back are making me sick. Didn't want vertical because I'll be working around trees a lot (tree limbs are a vertical exhaust pipe's worst enemy), but I might have to go that route anyway. Wish somebody made a rear exhaust kit.
Haha, great idea: Make the kids clean up the mower decks when you're done! -
Great video, and thanks for sharing! What model tractor is that? My wife and I recently purchased 15 acres, and I'm researching tractors. Thanks!

How many acres do you mow with it and how long does it take. Thanks for sharing video!!

Especially the spindles greased.

ALWAYS engage the PTO at idle engine speed and THEN throttle up. It save wear and tear on equipment.
