This is a video of my Kubota L5740 with a Pronovost P 800 TRC, 3 point hitch snowblower & Fisher Quick Attach 8 foot HD snowplow. When it comes to tractors it depends on application and what you are desiring to do. After that it is about weight and horsepower. I chose the Kubota Grand L 5740 because it is Kubota's largest compact tractor. The physical sizes of the L series are all about the same. So it comes down to engine displacement. Also, I found the price difference between the 30 HP and the 5740 at 60 HP was not enough to justify buying a smaller machine. Remember: A 60 HP tractor will do everything a 30 HP machine will but not visa versa. Bucket or blade. The only thing a bucket is good for when it comes to snow is stacking it. A blade will allow you to push, angle, and stack. The plow is a Fisher 8ft HD with Fisher's quick attach skid steer mount. It angles via the remote third valve on the loader joy stick. It works wonderful. I highly recommend this Fisher set up. The tractor has no problem handling it. Snowblower. This 5740 has three rear live remotes. I looked at all brands of snowblowers. Most are all similar. Then there is the Canadian built Pronovost. Pronovost is the Rolls Royce of snowblowers in my opinion. Remotes: 1. chute rotation. 2. chute tilt. 3. hydraulic rotating drum as demonstrated in the video, bypasses the chute and blows the snow out of either side. It blows the snow farther, uses less horsepower, and really moves the snow. The Provonost P 800 TRC, 7 feet wide, with rotating drum is built like no other. You get what you pay for. Tractor brands. I am immensely happy with my Grand L 5740. I am NOT a fan of the new 60 series Kubota's. Kubota had to have a redesign to accommodate a large particulate filter on top of the motor, to meet new tier 4 emissions standards. As a result the fuel tank on top of the motor with mine was relocated under the frame. Not cool when you use the tractor with a rotary rough cut mower and a rock or tree branch punctures the tank under the cab. Another example, on the new 60 series is the hydraulic lines for the loader were located on the outside of the loader arms. I can't imagine why. What were the people at Kubota thinking? !!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you buy a used or left over Kubota Grand L 40 series, it is an outstanding machine. If you are buying a new tractor I would advise you to study all brands before buying. I have over a dozen implements for this tractor. Stay tuned. I will be posting more 5740 action videos soon.
