I have a Kubota Grand L4240 GST and use a 5' Woods M150 rotary mower. I run at a hair over 540. But I'm also running in 1st or 2nd gear for the thick shit.

When you run a PTO attachment, it is suppose to be operated at 540rpm's. 1500-2000 is not 540rpm's. Look at you tach, 540 is marked with a triangle. That is 2500 rpm's on your tractor. You are not saving your equipment by running at a lower rpm. Its actually harder on the tractor. Run it at the rpm's it was intended.
