thanks for posting. It has been a great help.

I was wondering I have a Ford 4000 do you think it would be the same braking system as a Ford 3000 tractor
-
thanks I just bought a 3000 and my left brake don't work to well. now I know its not different than a car.
-
Good info..

had to put heat on my 600 brake drum right around the thecenter between bolt holes. don't get too hot. I tapped on edge of drum& also hit between studs(careful of threads) I used 40 oz. hammer.got it hot enough to burn paint off drum around studs & center couple of inches. I backedoff adjust star first so linings wouldn't hold it on. Hope this helps.

At 5:36 in this video, you can see a red plastic plug on the right side of the backing plate. You remove that plastic plug to access the adjuster screw.
-
Turn the adjuster until a little drag is felt. You can access the adjuster from a slot on the back of the backing plate

Sometimes hitting around the edges with a sledge hammer works. I imagine it's rusted itself to the axle. But I have seen drums (on a car) that had a ridge worn into it and the brake pads had a raised ridge so it was locking itself to the drum.

The drum setup was never a great braking system for tractors. I sent you an email reply but I don't really know what to tell you. The brakes on this 3000 sucks too.

how we can improve ford 3600 braking system., its brakes are really irritated me alwz,,so help me

@BEEBEE159 You're welcome. Watch those springs because they are tight!
-
Thank you for making this video. Believe it or not, my 1954 Ford 600 tractor has the same exact brake system as your Ford 3000. I've been putting my brakes off for a long time, too. I guess I will tackle it today. Take care :)

@mtk51 Take some pics with a digital camera so you'll know where everything goes.
-
Thanks for posting. I'm doing my brakes tomorrow and it really helps to watch someone else do it first.

@brian93ist Yeah, that 3000 is perfect for raking and square baling especially baling because the PTO is operated off the clutch so you can ease the PTO into engagement. As far as the impact wrench, I guess I'm just lazy. We used to use a big 4-way lug wrench but my back can't take it anymore.
-
my neighbour has a 3000 he uses it to rake and run a jd 24t square bailer the hay rake is a 640 jd good rake i bought a #64 jd hay rake last week you need paint on the wheels and fenders so they dont get holes rusted in them you are the only farmer i have ever seen use a impact wrench

@jstrunck Thanks John. I did too, those springs are a real pain!
-
@500passwords Thanks 500. Can't put off everything because of the heat I guess.
