I need some zantac 75......These old brutes are good tractors...Uncle had a cougar 280 for along time
-
Rippers take a lot of horsepower to run. I used to run my dad's 8640 (which has similar HP numbers to the Steiger in this video) with a 9-shank Orthman 3-point mounted ripper, and it took every ounce of power that tractor had to pull it.
-
its deeper then it looks its about 10 inches in the ground and we are just trying to git a little of compaction but mainly we are trying to do sum deep tillage to this black tar dirt
-
how deep? 6 inches or?? I would think you would want to go deeper or is the compaction not that deep?
-
most of the reason that they are stream lined is for better visability and sight lines,,also most of the components that make up a hood are all one piece now so it also cuts down on the weight of the hood without the wasted space. Atleast thats what I have been told
-
@mudmouse420 I was saying the width vs the width of the tractor seems.. dunno the size of the tractor would lead me to believe you would pull something behind it at least twice as wide... but I know jack about farming too.
-
@Kopihucky we got a CIH ripper behind a 9370 CIH depending how big it is it pulls plenty hard
-
Seems like an awful big tractor to be pulling that small of a plow.. Kind of a waste isn't it?
-
thats a nice tractor, i got a vid of our steiger tiger with a kt 1150 cummins...i love steigers!!
-
@impala355ss How deep were you ripping? Subsoiling or just regular tillage depth?
-
@sledmulisha ya we sold r steiger to ziegler cat its in sioux iowa
-
@DillanLM Hmm, confused. Perhaps you should know that the red Case/IH that look like this Steiger are in fact built in the same factory in Fargo ND. Fact is, except for being more modern than this older model, they are the same tractor. Only difference is the paint. Case/IH bought out Steiger quite a few years back now. Impressive factory, if ever in Fargo you should tour it.

steigers 4 my favs 4wds
-
nice steiger now they case they suck
-
Lager bearings? don't you mean lobes
-
i dont think it has to do with power of the engine but the conditions its ran in that why i think the cam bearings are thicker
-
we painted it 2 years ago and we took good care of it its a 1983
-
still doesnt make sense to me, as the camshaft load is determined by the valve springs, not by the power output of the engine itself.. I guess its a slang expression ...
-
ya it has mechanical injection the larger bearings i guess ware just because its used in large equipment
-
Did it have unit injectors, controlled by the camshaft ? It sounds odd to make two different versions of camshaft bearings for an engine... ??
